On June 1, Shanghai LNG, a subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING Energy, held a naming and vessel delivery ceremony for the LNG carrier CESI BEIHAI for the Australia Pacific LNG Project (APLNG Project) at Terminal 0 on Changxing Island, Shanghai.

Mr. Sun Jiakang, Deputy Party Secretary and Executive Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING and Mr. Lu Junshan, Secretary of the Party Committee of COSCO SHIPPING Energy, as well as executives and guests from related partners including Sinopec, CSSC, and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines attended the event. Ms. Liu Shan, No. 5 Office Director of SASAC’s Board of Supervisors, named the vessel and cut her cable as the godmother.

LNG Carrier CESI Beihai Delivered for SINOPEC LNG Project

With a length of 290 meters and a designed draft of 11.7 meters, CESI BEIHAI can carry up to 174,000 m³of LNG per voyage. It is one of the world’s most advanced and environmentally friendly LNG carriers today.

As the third vessel delivered for the APLNG Project co-launched by Shanghai LNG, Sinopec Kantons Holdings, and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, CESI BEIHAI will provide services from Australia to China’s Beihai and Qingdao Ports alongside with M.V. CESI FUSHI and CESI QINGDAO, effectively guaranteeing the energy supply to Sinopec’s LNG users in Guangxi, Shandong, and some other areas.

At present, six LNG carriers owned by Shanghai LNG have been put into operation, providing an annual transport capacity exceeding 6 million tons. As CESI BEIHAI sets sail, COSCO SHIPPING Energy will write a new chapter in the development of energy transportation in China and LNG transportation around the globe.
