The general cargo ship Singularity caught fire at commercial port of Vladivostok, Russia. The fire erupted in the superstructure of the vessel, which was docked at the port. The flames extended to the whole compartment and almost completely burned the bridge and some crew rooms. At the scene were dispatched two firefighting teams from the port, who assisted the crew with extinguishing the fire.

Unfortunately the damages into the super structure compartment and bridge were sufficient and will be assessed during the investigation. The local authorities presume that fire started from short circuit in personal appliance, but currently making root cause analyze. During the incident there were no injured people and no water pollution.

“On Monday at 7:50 was reported that in the commercial port of Vladivostok a cargo vessel caught fire”, said the spokesman of the Ministry of Emergency Measures in the Primorsky Region. “In place were dispatched local firefighting teams and an hours late the fire was extinguished. The burned area is around 20 sq m. Cause of the fire is established”, added he.

The general cargo ship Singularity (IMO: 7610050) has overall length of 90.00 m, moulded beam of 14.00 m and maximum draft of 5.50 m. The deadweight of the vessel is 4,156 DWT and the gross tonnage is 2,803 GRT. The ship was built in 1977 by Swan Hunter High Walker shipyard in Newcastle, UK. The owner and operator of cargo ship Singularity is Russian company Golden Pride.
