Vroon’s VOS Start was delivered to her first Charterer, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, on 1 August 2017. The vessel is providing offshore logistics support, accommodation and walk-to-work services during construction of DONG Energy’s Walney Extension Offshore Wind Farm in the Irish Sea. During the first six weeks of operations, she has performed 200 connections, facilitating the safe transfer of more than 885 persons to transition pieces.

Able to accommodate 60 passengers, VOS Start is fitted with a Barge Master motion-compensated gangway and a 50t active heave-compensated crane. To date, the crane has completed more than 200 lifts from the vessel to transition-piece landing platforms located at 20m LAT. This efficient transfer of equipment helps expedite the operational work flow.
VOS Start is Vroon’s first walk-to-work vessel purpose-built to support offshore operations in today's renewable energy industry and walk-to-work projects in the Oil & Gas industry. Her sister, VOS Stone, was recently delivered to the company by Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding. After final outfitting works in The Netherlands, VOS Stone will be ready to enter the market in November 2017. In the second quarter of 2018, she will commence a charter for E.ON AG, operating in the Arkona Offshore Windfarm.
