GTT has received an order from Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) to equip a new Liquefied Natural Gas Carrier (LNGC) with its new membrane containment system Mark III Flex+.
Offering a capacity of 180,000m3, this unit will be built at SHI’s yard in South Korea, on behalf of a European shipowner. Its delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2020.
The Mark III Flex+ solution enables a daily Boil-Off Rate of 0.07%V, thanks to an increased insulation thickness and a reinforced arrangement of the secondary barrier. This will be the second LNGC equipped with this latest development of the Mark III technology.
