The U.S. Coast Guard has reportedly managed to save a man that had spent 66 consequtive days onboard a disabled sailing vessel. Back when he was reported as missing on the 29th of January, the 37-year-old Louis Jordan was sailing the Angel vessel.

The rescue operation took place on Thursday at roughly 200 miles off the coast of North Carolina.

Portsmouth Coast Guard 5th District Command Cente watchstanders were notified by the Hapag-Lloyd Houston Express container ship that the container’s crew had managed to spot a man and had then decided to take him aboard.

The Coast Guard appointed an MH-60 Jayhalk helicopter from North Carolina to the vessel’s location and transported the previsouly stranded seafarer to the nearest hospital, that was in Norfolk.

The Coast Guard released an audio recording in which Jordan’s father commented that they believed him to be dead.

When he finally got the chance to speak with his son again, emotions took over:

“Oh man, so nice to hear your voice again.”

Jordan’s father also humbly thanked the Houston Express’ master.
