In the early hours of Tuesday morning Hai Jian 77 capsized close to the coast of Xiao Qu Shan Island, East China. The 104-meter cargo vessel with nine crew members on board was sailing in the sea waters of Zhoushan prefecture when the accident occurred.

SAR teams were sent to the location by the Rescue and Salvage Bureau (CRS) of the Ministry of Transport in Donghai. Four seamen are rescued, five other are still missing.

According to the tracking records for Hai Jian 77, the last port of call of the bulk carrier was Qidong, the next one was not specified.

Report of the Rescue and Salvage Bureau says  the bad weather conditions in the region, like strong winds and high waves, are the reason the Chinese bulker to turn upside down.

The search and rescue operations for the missing crew are currently in progress.
