How can an oil platform get a new life?

Take an inside look at the Jidai - a solution for offshore hydrogen production and storage, harvested from seawater using floating wind turbines.

The solution was developed by a team of thirteen top students who joined DNV GL for an ambitious summer project.

The seven-week challenge was focused on meeting the needs of aspiring hydrogen energy plan of Japan.

The word “jidai” comes from Japanese meaning “new era”.

Each year DNV GL choses a team of top students to joins their ranks for a chalenge. Last year the students were tasked to solve one of mankind's greatest problems - lack of clean freshwater. The team then developed the Ocean Oasis concept, which should make it possible to transform salt water into fresh water using wave power.
