Wednesday, the floating crane Triton installed a new accommodation unit on the walk to work vessel 'Blue Queen' from the Wagenborg Offshore fleet. The section was build in the new building location of shipyard Royal Niestern Sander. By means of the floating crane Triton, the tug Waterpoort and Wagenborg Barge 2, the section was transported to the port of Delfzijl.
The new section offers accommodation facilities for additional 15 people on board. Also, the new section enables the walk to work vessel her Emergency Response and rescue capabilities (ERRV). For this specific purpose a recovery area, survivor area, decontamination room and hospital is facilitated.
The installation is part of a conversion, which is executed within 16 weeks. Shipyard Royal Niestern Sander is converting the vessel from a platform supply vessel into a walk to work vessel.
'Blue Queen' will support the offshore maintenance operations of NAM/Shell UK on the Southern North Sea in the upcoming six years. The vessel is expected to be delivered to Wagenborg Offshore March 2018. The vessel will start operations in Q1 2018.
