Four Finnish TEN-T core ports – Turku, Helsinki, Naantali and HaminaKotka – along with Port of Stockholm are making an investment of €200 million in port infrastructure and various measures aimed at reducing the shipping’s environmental impact. The partners, which also include Viking Line and Skangass, are currently applying for EU funds provided by the 2014 CEF Transport Calls for Proposals, that officially ends on the 3rd of March.

“Investing in our ports will allows us to improve a great deal of the maritime link, established between our countries of Sweden and Finland, which is an integral part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T)”, commented Christian Ramberg, CEO, Port of Turku.

The partners are to submit two Motorways of the Seas applications, one that focuses on potential improvements to the port infrastructure like new and improved quay-berths, ramps, logistics areas and so on and another one that emphasizes on various environmental measures like LNG provision, onshore power supply as well as waste reception facilities.
