Taiwan-based Evergreen is about to place an order for 10 container ships, 2,800 TEUs each. The order was confirmed at yesterday’s board meeting, as part of Evergreen’s fleet optimisation plan.

Evergreen confirms the order of ten 2,800teu container ships

Five of the boxships will be build in the Japan-based Imabari Shipbuilding and the other half of the order by the compatriot shipyard CSBC.

All 10 containerships will be used for the coastal market in Asia after their delivery, which is expected to start in the second half of 2017.

Evergreen Line operates the fourth largest container fleet in the world, with over 190 ships by capacity of approximately 850,000 TEU.
