“The second icebreaking support ship of Aker ARC 130 A design, the Andrei Vertitsky, is to be launched in May 2017”, Aleksandr Solovyov, Director General of Vyborg Shipyard which is building the series said.
According to him, the ship is to be delivered to Gazprom Neft before the end of 2017. This year will also see the delivery of the lead ship of the series.
Vyborg Shipyard is building two icebreaking support ships based on Aker ARC 130 A design. The ships ordered by Gazprom Neft are to be deployed at the Arctic terminal operated by LLC Gazprom Neft Novy Port and located in the Gulf of Ob (Yamal peninsula).
The vessels are intended for escorting of tankers, assistance during mooring, loading and rescue operations, providing tugging assistance, firefighting, participation in oil spill response activities. Under the contract, the vessels should be able to operate continuously under the temperature of up to -50 С.
Major characteristics: LOA – 121.7 m; BOA – about 26 m; depth – 11.5 m; unloaded displacement – 8,699 t.
Vyborg Shipyard laid down the lead icebreaking ship for Gazprom Neft Novy Port, the Aleksandr Sannikov, on November 3, 2015. Keel-laying of the first serial icebreaking support ship was held on 14 December 2015.
