China has achieved a significant milestone in the shipping and shipbuilding industry by delivering the world's largest DP shuttle tanker, NS PIONEER, on March 30.

World's largest DP shuttle tanker - NS PIONEER - officially delivered

This tanker has been specially designed and constructed by CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industry for Shanghai Northsea Shipping, a subsidiary of CNOOC Petrochemicals Import & Export.

The tanker has been tailored for the Buzios and Mero deep-water oil and gas fields, marking DSIC's return to the shuttle tanker construction market.

With a capacity of 155,000 dwt, NS PIONEER has a total length of 279 meters, a width of 48 meters, and a depth of 23.7 meters, making it the largest DP tanker built, according to Petrobras' latest technical specifications.

The tanker adopts the DP2 system, ensuring low energy consumption and high maneuverability. It also meets Tier III standards for nitrogen oxide emissions, and its EEDI is at Phase Ⅱ.

The official delivery of NS PIONEER is significant for CNOOC as it becomes the first Chinese company to operate DP tankers in international and domestic waters simultaneously. This delivery also marks a "zero" breakthrough for Chinese shipowners in the international DP tanker market.
