MISC Berhad (MISC) announced on Wednesday (Mar03) that Seri Everest, its first Very Large Ethane Carrier (VLEC), has successfully completed her first cargo discharge at Lianyungang port, Jiangsu province, China. Seri Everest’s first cargo of more than 51,000 MT of ethane was discharged safely on 28 February 2021 at the ethylene plant. 

MISC’s Seri Everest Delivers First Ethane Cargo

The successful completion of Seri Everest’s loading and discharge which was managed by Eaglestar Shipmanagement Gas (S) Pte. Ltd. (Eaglestar) is to date, the largest in the history of ethane shipping. The cargo was loaded from Orbit Terminal, Nederland, United States of America (USA) where Seri Everest was the first VLEC to call on the new terminal.

Following the delivery of Seri Everest in October 2020, MISC took delivery of her sister vessel – Seri Erlang, in January 2021. Seri Erlang is currently on her maiden voyage to the USA. MISC is expected to take delivery of the remaining four VLECs within the first half of 2021. All six VLECs will be chartered to Zhejiang Satellite Petrochemical Co. Ltd. for a period of 15 years.
