DP World Antwerp Gateway has achieved another milestone in its expansion and modernization plan with the arrival of three new quay cranes.
The terminal's ambitious plan to invest 200 million euros in expansion, modernization, and sustainability has reached a major milestone with the arrival of these cranes, which can handle up to 26 container rows on a ship.
The cranes were built by ZPMC and add to the network of 10 cranes at the DP World terminal on the eastern side of the Deurganck dock.
DP World's investment plan for the terminal's modernization, greening, and capacity expansion, which was initiated in 2019 and supported by the European Commission, aims to offer customers efficient, resilient, and sustainable solutions.
The crane park at the terminal can handle the largest container ships in the world, capable of transporting up to 24,000 containers (TEU). These latest cranes can handle one more container row on a ship than the current generation of container vessels.
This investment in the terminal's infrastructure signifies the current and expected growth of the terminal and its progress towards becoming an industry-leading provider of efficient, sustainable, and resilient services.
