The vessel has undergone an LNG engine conversion at the German Dry Docks in Bremerhaven.
Following the launching, Nauticor, formerly Bomin Linde LNG, conducted the vessel’s initial liquefied natural gas bunkering at the Kühlhauskai in the Port of Bremerhaven.
In total four tanker trucks delivered liquefied natural gas to the port and loaded it onto the Wes Amelie, claimed to be the world’s first containership to be retrofitted with an LNG engine.
The ship Wes Amelie, just like its 15 identical sister ships, is operating on the feeder routes between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.
The conversion was supported by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure and will likely be extended to other ships in the fleet.
