Beothuk Spirit is the first of three Heritage Class newbuild shuttle tankers destined to serve East Coast Canada. Its sister vessel Norse Spirit is scheduled to deliver in the first half of November 2017, followed by Dorset Spirit in early-2018.
The vessels will provide crude transportation services to the Hibernia, Terra Nova, White Rose and Hebron offshore oil fields located in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador; and will replace two in-charters and one owned vessel currently servicing this 15-year, plus extension options, contract with a group of companies that includes Chevron Canada, Exxon Mobil, Husky Energy, Mosbacher Operating Ltd., Murphy Oil, Nalcor Energy, Statoil and Suncor Energy.
