Rosmorport says icebreaker Moskva of its North-West Basin Branch is on its way to Sabetta seaport on the Yamal peninsula. Having replenished its marine stores at Big Port St. Petersburg the ship left the port on November 15. The icebreaker is ready to cover almost 3,200 nautical miles and then operate in Sabetta.
The Moskva is expected at the port in late November.
In the winter navigation period of 2017-2018 the icebreaker will assist vessels in the water area of Sabetta; cut away ice along the port’ berth to ensure safe mooring of vessels; deliver pilots to/from vessels calling at Sabetta.
If necessary, the Moskva can be deployed for providing icebreaker assistance to vessels at the approaches to the port along preliminarily made canals including towing of vessels.
The icebreaker will operate at Sabetta until the end of May 2018.
