Dry bulk stevedoring operations at the ports of Swansea and Newport have successfully transitioned to the new standard of ISO 9001:2015.
Following an audit, by the British Standards Institution, the two ports were specifically awarded the ISO 9001:2015 accreditation in relation to the Quality Management System for ‘Loading & Unloading Bulk Carriers and Storage & Distribution of Bulk Products’.
The ABP South Wales operations team have been working hard to achieve this new standard over the past couple of months as part of a commitment to continually improving the services that are provided to port customers.
ISO 9001:2015 is awarded to systems of work that can demonstrate a high level of quality management. This includes being able to consistently provide a quality service that meets regulatory requirements while focusing on increased customer satisfaction.
Ralph Windeatt, Port Manager for Swansea, and Newport, ABP South Wales, said “It is great to have our bulk handling operations accredited by an internationally recognised standard. The ISO 9001:2015 accreditation aligns with our goal to continually improve the quayside operations we provide to port users. It will allow us to focus on improving existing customer satisfaction, while also attracting new customers, and increasing our competitive edge.”
ISO is an independent organisation that awards accreditation to world-class systems across the world for services that can demonstrate a consistent focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.
