On 29 March, Höegh Autoliners achieved a milestone by loading close to 6400 export vehicles on the Roll On/Roll Off (RoRo) vessel Höegh Shanghai at the Offshore Container Terminal Berth (OCT) in Mumbai.
The total single shipment consisted of 6388 vehicles from a range of OEMs who have set up their own manufacturing facilities in India. Export of cars from India in such large numbers is a successful example from the "make in India" campaign launched by the Government of India.
“Not too long ago we loaded record volume on Höegh St. Petersburg at the same berth and now we have Höegh Shanghai surpassing that record. We thank our customers who have shown their faith in our services out of India and their continued support makes this possible”, Karolath Gopinathan, Head of Country India, Höegh Autoliners said.
To facilitate the record loading, officials from Mumbai Port, OCT, Höegh Autoliners and Merchant Shipping Services Pvt Ltd attended the operation.
Höegh Shanghai has a cargo carrying capacity of 7850 cars is 228m in length, 32.2m in width and has 11 decks.
