Continuing the streak, the Port of New York and New Jersey hit another monthly record in May. Total volume for May 2018 was 593,625 TEUs (340,890 lifts) versus 565,052 TEUs (325,373 lifts) in May 2017, yielding a 5.1% increase. Import loads (TEUs) were up by 6.6% in May 2018 vs. May 2017 and export loads (TEUs) increased 9.3% in May 2018 vs. May 2017.

Rail volume soared 19.6% from the previous year’s May, hitting a monthly record with 57,732 containers. This makes three consecutive months of rail volume above 50,000 containers. Rail volume, January through May 2018, is 16.6% greater than in the same period of 2017.

"We moved 52,312 autos through the Port of New York and New Jersey in May, a tremendous increase of 22.6% when compared against May 2017.  Auto volume, January through May 2018, is 6.8% greater than in the same period of 2017."
