Bunker One (Gulf of Mexico) SA announced on Wednesday (May 29) the newest addition to its Offshore US Gulf and Caribbean fleet, M/T Waltz. The physical supplier, that is now one of the largest suppliers in the Caribbean, will commence operations in Freeport from 1 June.
Henceforth, this provides vessels sailing outbound from the US Gulf to Europe, longhaul markets in Asia and elsewhere, a very attractive refueling option.
The M/T Waltz will inaugurate Bunker One’s entry as a physical supplier to Freeport Bahamas supplying at Outer anchorage and Freeport Offshore, complementing the already well-established Offshore US Gulf operation with M/T Barbarica.
The fully equipped bunkering vessel, M/T Waltz, will carry major oil vetting and approvals along with an experienced crew to ensure the highest level of service with high maneuverability having twin engines, rudder propellers, and high efficiency pumps with a capacity of 750 cubic meters/hour.
This expansion comes ahead of the challenging industry-wide demands presented by the transition to IMO 2020 and the global sulphur cap on marine fuels.
Georgia Kounalakis, Managing Director, Bunker One (Gulf of Mexico & Caribs), says: ”The continued growth of our physical supply platform will allow our customers flexibility and choice in their fuel purchasing requirements as we enter 2020, creating efficient ‘bunkers only’ port calls. Our goal is to support our customers’ operations with effective, safe logistics and appropriate product availability as their preferred marine fuel provider.”
Peter Zachariassen, Global Director, Bunker One states: “I am very pleased with the expansion of our global fuel supply network and I see strong synergies across our well-established US and Caribbean operations. The voice of our customers is key to everything we do – and it’s a pleasure to be able to accommodate their needs, wherever they are.”
