ICE has won another contract for design of a ballast water treatment system (BWTS), this time for a very large crude carrier (VLCC). The contract was awarded by Aitken Marine International (AMI), a Dubai-based project management company with which ICE has cooperation for laser scanning and retrofit design services.
The BWT equipment will be supplied by a leading international manufacturer. ICE’s scope of work includes the complete engineering package including Class approval and development of a retrofit and installation plan.
Florin Flor, ICE’s coordinator for retrofit services, says: “BWTS retrofit design is unique for each type of vessel due to use of different makers, different capacities, etc. Backed by extensive experience in conversion and retrofitting work, ICE can quickly deliver a complete engineering package for clients, worldwide. We have been supporting AMI since its start-up a couple of years ago and we are pleased to contribute to their success“.
