American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier’s M/V ARC Resolve discharged thirty Armored Command Post Carrier vehicles and accompanying accessories recently at the port of Paranagua, Brazil. The armored vehicles moved on ARC’s North America-South America service and will be used by the Brazilian Army.
The U.S. Army from time to time deactivates some of the defense equipment that it no longer requires and transfers the material to its partner nations.
According to the U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), “The vehicles were processed under the Excess Defense Articles (EDA) Grant program, while the transfer will be executed via a Foreign Military Sales case.” Agreements to transfer military equipment between the United States and Brazil date back to the beginning of the 1950s, just after the end of World War II.
ARC provides global logistics and shipping services to the U.S. Government. ARC and its U.S. affiliates own and manage the largest U.S.-flag roll-on roll-off (Ro-Ro) fleet. This includes providing American-owned, managed, and crewed Ro-Ro shipping and intermodal services committed to the requirements of the Department of Defense, other U.S. Government departments and agencies, and commercial customers.
