South Korea’s Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co. has won a $450 million worth contract to build a gas compression platform in the gas field under development offshore Myanmar.
The company said Tuesday that it signed a letter of intent with Posco International to construct a gas compression platform in the Shwe gas field, 70 kilometers offshore Myanmar, by the first half of 2024. The platform will be connected to the existing platform in the field to maintain gas output of 500 million cubic feet a day.
Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the holding company of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group’s shipbuilding units, will perform engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of the compression platform once Posco International’s Shwe Phase 3 gas field development project receives a final nod from Myanmar government.
