The first one of the two platform supply vessels ordered in the Polish shipbuilding yard Remontowa by Borealis Maritime has been completed.
Coey Viking PSV was delivered to the shipowner on 18 January 2021. It is operating under the technical management of Viking Supply Ships and will soon begin its regular service in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
The PSV is powered by LNG or MGO in the gas-electric propulsion system, being also equipped with a battery pack solution. The battery pack allows it to significantly reduce fuel consumption and emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere, and to match the noise standards restrictions when in port.
The vessel is equipped with a DP system with demanding weather parameters, which ensures that the vessel’s position is maintained in winds in excess of 35 knots and wave heights of up to 4 meteres. It is also fitted with a fire fighting system classified as Fi-Fi -2 as well as an oil spill fighting system certified to NOFO regulations.
The vessel is built to the upgraded Wärtsilä VS 4411 DF design, under the classification society DNV-GL surveillance.
