SCHOTTEL has supplied drive units for nine other newly built dry cargo carriers. Each of the ships, which were designed by the Russian designer Marine Engineering Bureau, will be equipped with two rudder propellers from the German propulsion experts.

SCHOTTEL drives for nine other Russian dry cargo carriers

The main drive of the dry cargo ship consists of a pair of diesel-powered SCHOTTEL rudder propellers type SRP 340 with an input power of 1,200 kilowatts each at 1,000 revolutions per minute. With this configuration, the ships reach a free speed of around 10 knots.

Proven SCHOTTEL RudderPropellers

Including this order, a total of more than 50 dry cargo carriers of the RSD 32 and RSD 59 series are powered by SCHOTTEL systems. This corresponds to over 100 installed rudder propellers. The vast majority of these ships are also equipped with SCHOTTEL TransverseThrusters in order to achieve maximum maneuverability.

Capacity of over 11,200 cubic meters per ship

The 141 meter long and 16.9 meter wide ships have a capacity of 11,200 cubic meters each, as well as 7,445 dwt at sea (draft 4.5 meters) and 5,112 dwt on rivers (draft 3.6 meters) . In addition, the new ships are characterized by a particularly high block coefficient, which guarantees the optimal combination of speed, carrying capacity and required propulsion power.

Transport of dry cargo in Russia

Each of the dry cargo carriers is equipped with two loading spaces, which are intended for the transport of containerized general cargo, wood, grain, oversized cargoes and dangerous goods. The ships will transport dry cargo across Russian rivers such as the Volga and Don as well as the Mediterranean, Black and Caspian Seas.

The series of ships should be completed in the late year.
