From 31 March 2022, the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will be calling at APM Terminals Gothenburg on a weekly basis for onward travel to the US.
From APM Terminals in Gothenburg, Sweden, MSC’s ocean-going vessel MSC Cornelia will reach New York, Philadelphia and Norfolk in eleven days, with just a single stop in Bremerhaven for loading and unloading.
"This new direct connection between the Baltic Sea and the US east coast has been very much in demand and is currently the only one on the market. Through this new rotation, we are also strengthening our offering via Gothenburg, which is very positive," says Maria Sturgis, MD at MSC Sweden.
"With another direct call via Gothenburg, the Swedish logistics map is being redrawn. We are very pleased that MSC has chosen to invest in APM Terminals at the Port of Gothenburg, which will provide new opportunities for our customers and for all of Sweden to trade with the outside world," says Dennis Lenthe Olesen, Managing Director for APM Terminals Nordics.
The rotation for the new direct line will be Klaipeda – Gdynia – Gothenburg – Bremerhaven – New York – Philadelphia – Norfolk – Klaipeda.
