JF Subtec has successfully completed a subsea inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) contract for NEO Energy - one of the leading North Sea oil and gas producers - on its floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, Global Producer III (GPIII), located in the Balloch field, Central North Sea.
The contract saw the safe and efficient execution of the FPSO’s IRM scope and required JF Subtech to apply its comprehensive experience of technically complex project scopes in harsh environments, utilising its air diving and ROV expertise to undertake the operation on the GPIII vessel’s hull, in accordance with NEO Energy’s asset integrity program.
JF Subtech helped ensure the FPSO’s thruster system’s continued operational capability and high performance to preserve the critical requirements of safety and stability around the GPIII’s turret mooring system during ongoing production activities, within the harsh North Sea environment conditions.
Following the fast-tracked development of project specific procedures by the project delivery team, JF Subtech moved swiftly to charter the Offshore Construction Vessel “Olympic Challenger” and mobilise a team of 35 offshore personnel to safely execute the scope of work. Navigating the short turnaround window, JF Subtech’s significant air diving experience allowed for safe and efficient completion of the project within budget.
The scope of work included the removal of an existing thruster by lowering it through the GPIII hull, followed by subsea transfer and recovery to the deck of the diving support vessel (DSV), with the reverse process being implemented to install the replacement unit. The works program also included the inspection and replacement of the starboard forward linear loop anode and reference electrode, part of the vessel’s impressed current cathodic protection system.
