Heerema Marine Contractors' reduction plan, aiming to reduce 80% of its GHG emissions by 2026, has been independently audited by a third party according to the Climate Neutral Certification Standard. The company has received an official certificate of compliance due to this audit, making Heerema Marine Contractors a Climate Neutral certified organization.

Heerema Marine Contractors is a Climate Neutral certified organization

Heerema Marine Contractors aims to reduce its footprint and emissions by following the company’s Sustainability Roadmap, which focuses on the pillars Prevent, Reduce, and Compensate. Heerema Marine Contractors’ ambition is to implement zero-emission technologies onboard their fleet of offshore crane vessels and anchor-handling tugs. That is why, in 2020, the company started investing in carbon offset projects that align with the mission to create sustainable value(s). By doing this, they already have a neutral Scope 1 and 2 footprint today while working on further prevention and reduction for the future.

General Manager Sustainability, Meike Kolthof: ‘Our reduction program allows us to develop reduction and prevention measures while already having a climate-neutral footprint. We believe in taking action now, all while working on the future.’

Each year an independent auditor will evaluate if Heerema Marine Contractors continues to meet its outlined reduction targets and the Climate Neutral Certification Standard.

Jeroen van Oosten, Chief Commercial Officer: ‘This certification is an important milestone in line with our mission to create sustainable value(s) for clients and stakeholders.’
