Bulk carrier HAKATA QUEEN loaded with coal went out of control after unmooring at Barranquilla port, Colombia, at around 1200 LT on Sep 9.
The ship struck nearby aux pier with moored tug, and literally, wiped away pier.
After contact, HAKATA QUEEN dropped anchor and was taken under control.
Later she was taken out of port and anchored at Barranquilla outer anchorage, where she’s to remain until Sep 12 or 13, subject to investigation, inspection and completion of all formalities.
Cause of ship’s NUC (*Not Under Control) unknown, probably mechanical failure.
