On the November 15th, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries announced that their 180,000-dwt (Dead Weight Tonnage) LNG dual-fuel propulsion Bulk Carriers were awarded a new certificate at the ‘World Class Product Show’ held at Kotech (the Korea Technology Center) in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

HSHI’s Bulk Carriers Selected as World Class Products of Korea

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries built the world's first 180,000-dwt LNG dual-fuel propulsion bulk carriers in 2020 and 2021, holding 100% of the global market share. Total production amounts to $144 million in value.

Six other products were also re-certified, including the ▲Very Large Container Ship(2007) ▲Crude Oil Carrier(2007) ▲Pure Car and Truck Carrier(2014) ▲LNG Carrier(2015) ▲Large Product Carrier(2015) ▲LPG Carrier(2016). In total, seven(7) products built by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries have been independently declared to be among the best in the world.

Since 2001, the MOTIE (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy) has selected promising export products and production companies through the "World's Best Product Show." When producers participate in projects that require overseas marketing, R&D, and financial support, they are given additional points or preference.

Less than 5 percent of products with an annual global market size of more than $50 million or an annual export size of more than $5 million as of the previous year are selected as world-class products.

An official from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries said, "As orders for dual-fuel ships continue to increase due to the recent strengthening of environmental regulations, we expect the acquisition of this certificate to be of great support to our future marketing activities."

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has been leading the eco-friendly shipping field by delivering 114,000-dwt tankers in July 2018, and, for the first time in the world, two LNG dual fuel vessels; 14,800 TEU container ship and 180,000-dwt Bulk Carrier, in September and December of 2020.
