On April 11, 2023, Diana Shipping Inc., a company that specializes in owning and bareboat chartering dry bulk vessels globally, announced the delivery of its new vessel, the m/v DSI Drammen (formerly Nord Potomac). The Ultramax dry bulk vessel has a capacity of 63,379 deadweight tons (dwt) and was built in 2016. The company had entered into an agreement to purchase the vessel in February 2023.
Diana Shipping Inc. also reported that it has entered into a time charter contract for the m/v DSI Drammen with IMC Shipping Co. Pte. Ltd., a gross charter rate of US$18,250 per day, with a commission of 5% paid to third parties. The time charter will be effective from April 15, 2023, until a minimum of April 10, 2024, and a maximum of June 10, 2024. The charter is expected to generate approximately US$6.5 million in gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period.
Diana Shipping Inc.'s current fleet comprises 42 dry bulk vessels, including 4 Newcastlemax, 10 Capesize, 5 Post-Panamax, 6 Kamsarmax, 7 Panamax, and 10 Ultramax vessels, with a total carrying capacity of about 4.7 million dwt and a weighted average age of 9.98 years.
