Ernst Russ AG has recently expanded its fleet of fully consolidated ships by purchasing the 13,371 TEU container ship ROME EXPRESS (IMO 9447861). The ship was handed over on Tuesday (Jul11).
The MS ROME EXPRESS was built and delivered in December 2010 by the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea. It has a slot capacity of 13,371 TEU, is 366 meters long and 48 meters wide and is also equipped with a scrubber.
The MS ROME EXPRESS is currently chartered to Hapag-Lloyd until the beginning of 2026 and sails in the Far East/Northern Europe service to the ports of Ningbo, Xiamen, Kaohsiung, Yantian (Shenzhen), Singapore, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Southampton and Algeciras at. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price and other details of the transaction.
With the current investment, Ernst Russ AG is once again expanding its ship portfolio in terms of the number and size of its fleet. With the ship purchase, the group of companies strengthens its position as an investor for future-oriented and sustainable ship projects. As a further contribution to the rejuvenation of its fleet, the 20-year-old container ship ELLA (capacity: 2,450 TEU) was sold. The ship was handed over yesterday.
