The MV Glen Rosa, the second of two dual-fuel vessels built at Ferguson Marine, was successfully launched on April 9th, 2024.

Ferguson Successfully Launches its Second RoPax Ferry

Its sister Glen Sannox and the Glen Rosa are the first UK-built ships designed to operate using both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and marine gas oil (MGO) for propulsion, a pioneering feature that has posed significant challenges both to the shipyard and to the UK supply chain.

After the shipyard was nationalised following delays and cost overruns under its previous owner, Ferguson’s new management engaged ICE to rectify design problems and other difficulties discovered in her earlier sister ship and later to provide design improvements and other assistance for the “Glen Rosa”.

The pictures show a team of ICE engineers at the launching, and the ship afloat for the first time.
