The new 18,980-TEU CSCL Indian Ocean is about to become part of the Asia-north Europe service provided together with UASC and CMA CGM in the Ocean Three alliance, called respectively FAL 8 by CSCL, AEC 1 and AEX 1.
At the beginning the vessels, evaluated at about US$136.59 million per unit have been purchased at 18,400 TEU in 2013 from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI). The new ship proceeds after the CSCL Pacific Ocean that was delivered in December.

The service represents one of the four Asia-North Europe circuits that has commenced earlier in January as part of the O3 arrangement. According to Alphaliner, the circuit will also be handled by Yang Ming, Hanjin Shipping, Cosco and Taiwan’s Evergreen operating under distinctive niche agreements.
