Hafnia celebrated the naming ceremony of first of its four 49,800 dwt dual-fuel Methanol Chemical IMOII Medium-Range newbuilds with joint venture partner Socatra of France in China.

Product tanker owner and operator Hafnia on Monday (27 January) said it recently celebrated the naming ceremony of the first of its four 49,800 dwt dual-fuel Methanol Chemical IMOII Medium-Range (MR) newbuilds with Socatra of France.
The ceremony for Ecomar Gascogne was held at Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI).
“Our new fleet is designed to operate on both conventional fuel and methanol, enhancing our fleet’s ability to adopt cleaner fuel options and support decarbonisation efforts,” Hafnia said in a social media post.

Hafnia previously announced an order with joint venture partner Socatra of France for the four vessels, constructed out of GSI in China.
The order marked Hafnia’s first investment and step into the dual-fuel methanol landscape.
The remaining three vessels are scheduled for delivery across 2025 and 2026.
The four new buildings will be time-chartered from Ecomar to TotalEnergies for a multi-year period.
