The CMA CGM Kerguelen, the largest container ship of CMA CGM Group was welcomed at Port Klang Terminal in Malaysia.
The terminal set up a special arrangement for the first containership call, including a minimum of 12 cranes, which were used at the same time to match the vessel’s capacity of 17,722 TEUs and beyond the normal for containerships, a 398 m-length.
The ship is the first of six vessels that will be delivered in 2015 with more than 17,000 TEUs capacity. The latest environmental technologies are included in its design, such as an optimized hull design, an engine of the latest generation, a twisted leading edge rubber with bulb etc. The result of those innovations is the decrease of 10% in the CMA CGM Kerguelen CO2 emissions compared to the previous generation vessels.
Sailing to ports in 11 countries, the CMA CGM Kerguelen will cover the line from Europe to Asia. The vessel with its impressive dimensions has the capacity to transport about 200,000 tons of cargo between Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
The CMA CGM is the thirds worldwide container shipping company and the France’s top-one container transporter. The company operates a fleet of 445 ships, calling over than 400 ports worldwide. Last year records show, the company transported over 12,2 million TEUs.
