APM Terminals (APMT) has released a video showing the details of the Poti Sea Port, Georgia, development plan.
The plan provides the development of 100-ha land, adjacent to the seaport. As shown in the video, currently the seaport occupies 15 berths which allow the handling of some nine million tonnes of cargo per year.
The new project is aiming to provide easier access for containerships. According to the APMT plan, there will be a new container terminal on the land adjacent to the seaport as well as two berths and 600 metres of quay. The total throughput of the new terminal will be about one million TEU.
It is expected that in 2025, when the development plan should be in its final stage, the capacity of the container terminal will have reached two million TEU, the berths will be four with 1,200 m quay.
