ABB's new Azipod D electric propulsion system has been awarded “Innovation of the Year” at the renowned Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo, held this week in Amsterdam.
The award recognizes the important contribution of the Azipod D to advancing modern shipping. Having been selected by an international 38-member jury of academics, industry experts and maritime journalists, the new electric propulsion system was praised for its higher energy efficiency, flexibility and reliability.
Furthermore, ABB has been awarded, for a second consecutive year, as Propulsion Manufacturer of the Year.
The President of ABB’s Process Automation division, Peter Terwiesch, commented:
