In the afternoon on August 30, container ship Mareno arrived to port of Luderitz in Namibia with burning containers on board.
Six of the containers loaded with charcoal caught fire, which later was taken under control by the firefighting team dispatched at the incident site.
There is no information on the extent of the damages on board Mareno or if there are any injured people.
The 17500-dwt container ship Mareno is built in 2000. The vessel is sailing under the flag of Antigua & Barbuda. It has a capacity of 1174 TEUs. The container ship is managed by SCHIFFAHRTSKONTOR TOM WORDEN, Germany.
