The Cyprus flagged general cargo ship Altamar suffered steering failure while entering the Polish port of Swinoujscie in the morning of September 12, 2015.

During the maneuvering, the vessel struck bunker tanker Palica, which was moored to ferry Baltivia, in the process of bunkering.

There were no reports for any visible damages on the passenger ferry, however tanker Palica suffered damages to superstructure and bulwark.

As it was reported, the cargo ship Altamar, loaded with cellulose, has suffered hull breach above the waterline.

The 4.181-DWT general cargo ship Altamar is built 2009 by Rongcheng Shipbuilding Industry Co. Ltd. The vessel is managed by MARSHIP MANAGEMENT GMBH & CO. KG.

The 1.345-DWT bunkering tanker Palica is built 1977, sailing under the flag of Poland.

The Bahamas-flagged passenger/Ro-Ro Cargo Ship Baltivia is built 1981. The ferry is managed by the company POLISH BALTIC SHIPPING, based in Poland.
