The Master of Russian tanker Volgoneft-117 died from heart attack on board the vessel on Monday, September 14, 2015.
The oil products tanker was in eastern Gulf of Finland en route to Vysotsk port. The ship’s crew requested medevac, after the captain fainted.

Local Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) contacted Russian Emergency Agency to provide helicopter.
According to reports the request was refused, because there was no available helicopter in Gulf of Finland area, capable of people airlift.
A fast speed boat from the Primorsk port was dispatched to the ship with a doctor. Unfortunately when the doctor arrived on board the Volgoneft-117, the ship’s Master was already dead.
The 4.100-DWT river-sea product tanker Volgoneft-117 is built 1974, sailing under the flag of Russia. The vessel is operated by MIDDLE VOLGA SHIPPING CO.
