Seaspan Corporation made an announcement that it has received the 10,000 TEU Maersk Guayaquil containership. The all new container carrier, which was built at Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., serves as the eight 10,000 TEU SAVER design container carrier of Seaspan and the seventh delivery for this year.
The ship is to be appointed to a five-year-long, fixed-rate time charter deal with Maersk Line A/S. Maersk may decide to further extend the deal with two consecutive options of one year.

The vessel serves as the first out of two 10,000 TEU SAVER design ships that are to be operated by Maersk under a charter contract with Seaspan. With the addition of the Maersk Guayaquil, the operating fleet of the company expands to a total of 84 vessels.
"We are nothing but pleased to be able to continuously add to our Seaspan operating fleet, as we strictly follow our business model. By delivering the Maersk Guayaquil and commencing the fixed rate time charter of the vessel, we have managed to further position the company for generating sustainable and visible cash flows for its shareholders. Our intentions are of continuing to pursue lucrative opportunities for expanding our current fleet and being able to provide leading liner companies with big, cutting-edge SAVER design container carriers, as we grow our contracted revenue stream of more than USD 6 billion," commented Gerry Wang, Seaspan’s CEO, Co-Chairman and Co-Founder.
