Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry has announced an order win to construct up to eight 74,000 dwt LR1 product tankers for Germany’s shipowner and manager Ernst Jacob.
The Chinese shipyard announced on its website that the order is for two firm ships, with options for six additional units. The first newbuilding delivery is planned for November 2017.
The LR1 product tankers will be designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (Sdari) and meet the H-CSR requirements. With respect to size particulars, the tankers will feature length overall of 228m, breadth moulded of 38m and the depth moulded of 19.8m.
To date, Hantong has an orderbook to build 15 LR1 product tankers.
