As informed, the grounding caused the South Korean ship’s fuel tanks to rupture and spill an undisclosed amount of fuel.
The local coast guard received a report on the grounding on Sunday and was sent to the scene to evacuate four crew members of the ship and its captain, who were stranded on board, Yonhap informed.
The coast guard added that the ship was not carrying a substantial car cargo.
There were no injuries reported.
Efforts on spill containment are reportedly underway, however the activities are said to be hampered by inclement weather conditions.
The 1985-built ship features 2,736 DWT and is owned by South Korean Duwon Shipping.
