Chemical shipping company Navig8 Chemical Tankers Inc. has taken delivery of its first stainless steel chemical tanker, the Navig8 Sirius, from Japanese shipbuilder Kitanihon Shipbuilding Co. Ltd.
Featuring 25,000 dwt, the Navig8 Sirius is the first of six vessels contracted at Kitanihon to be delivered to the company.
The Navig8 Sirius will be entered into and operated in Navig8 Group’s Stainless8 commercial pool, the shipping firm said.
The tanker is also the first ship to be delivered under the USD 55 million secured loan facility with Credit Suisse AG.
Navig8 Chemical Tankers said that the loan facility, which was signed last week, covers 65% of the contract price of the vessels.
The company ordered the batch of six stainless steel chemical tankers in January 2014.
Featuring a length of 159 meter and a width of 25 meters, the remaining tanker newbuilds are scheduled to join Navig8 Chemical Tankers’ fleet in 2016 and 2017.
