Offshore and subsea shipping company Siem Offshore has agreed to extend the current charter period for the vessel Hugin Explorer.
Siem said on Thursday that the extension of the charter is for an additional 15 months taking the firm period of the charter up to July 1, 2019. The financial details of the contract have remained undisclosed.

Siem also said that the parties have agreed to a purchase obligation for the charterer at the end of the firm period.
The vessel, of a MT 6000 Mk II design, was built in 2006 by Kleven in Norway as a platform supply vessel (PSV) named Siem Mariner. It is 85.6 meters long with the capacity to accommodate 65 people. However, Siem Mariner received a makeover in January 2008 to become a seismic node vessel and was renamed Hugin Explorer.
The Hugin Explorer is operated by Seabed Geosolutions, a joint venture between Fugro and CGG.
The vessel’s previous bareboat charter extension was agreed in April 2012 when Fugro took it for a period of six years, with 1+1 year option.
