Two Japanese tankers, Eastern Phoenix and Keihin Maru No.8, collided yesterday morning (Aug7) off Kehin Port, Kawasaki prefecture, Japan.
The 5,025-dwt Eastern Phoenix was slightly damaged, while Keihin Maru No.8 was breached on its portside.
According to local reports, there was a bunker fuel leaking from the product tanker Keihin Maru No.8. The vessel is partially sank, but remains afloat.
At the time of the incident there were three crew members on board of Keihin Maru No.8 and all have been rescued. Salvage operation is under way.
