Bernhard Schulte Offshore GmbH’s new service operation vessel (SOV) Windea La Cour and the offshore rescue helicopter from Northern HeliCopter GmbH (NHC) engaged in an initial training session in the North Sea.
NHC, a partner within the Windea Group, is a helicopter company which is specialized in acute and emergency medical transportation. They were the first private company, supplying wind farms in the German Bight with emergency rescue services. Their helicopters are based in St. Peter-Ording and Emden.
The training concentrated on the operations and procedures during an emergency rescue scenario. The responsibilities of the deckhands during helicopter landing on the helideck and hoisting operations from the quarterdeck were emphasized during the training. Thereby, communication between the bridge and the rescue helicopter were essential.
The familiarization gained through the training will make future operations more efficient and enhances the collaboration between the vessel’s crew and the rescue crew.
