The first of the newly built Suezmax oil tankers of Arcadia Shipmanagement, MT Aegean Marathon, is recognized with the Green Award certificate. Five more new builds are preparing for the certification to demonstrate their outstanding quality.
The first out of 6 new built oil tankers, the Aegean Marathon with DWT of 159.000 tonnes, has been inspected and awarded with the Green Award certificate. Arcadia Shipmanagement took delivery of MT Aegean Marathon in May this year and immediately submitted the vessel for Green Award certification. Arcadia remains committed to having the complete fleet in the Green Award scheme and intends to have all 6 new buildings certified by Green Award.

Arcadia Shipmanagement is committed to the protection of the environment and to security and safety of all employees and other involved parties. The company maintains top safety standards and delivers highly reliable ship management services and, as such, is a proud holder of the Green Award certificate. Efficient operations, seasoned and professional management of the Arcadia Shipmanagement, in combination with risk reduction and financial benefits for charterers and owners, which the Green Award certificate entails, make Arcadia one of the most preferred ship managers.
Green Award assesses and endorses the quality, safety and environmental protection standards of a ship manager and its ships. Green Award requirements go beyond statutory regulations and cover a wide range of aspects including ship equipment, emissions, human factor, management and implementation of the best practices. Meeting the Green Award requirements is a great achievement for a ship manager. Only top notch ship managers and ships with high performance are capable of obtaining the certificate.
The Aegean Marathon gained high score and not a single finding was issued. Jan Fransen, Executive Director of Green Award congratulated Arcadia Shipmanagement on this achievement.
“Arcadia Shipmanagement is a unique certificate holder. They have been participating in the Green Awards scheme with their whole fleet for 12 years. Their devotion to keeping the sea clean and care for people are remarkable. Our audits of Arcadia Shipmanagement show constant high quality and continuous improvement. In this time of an economic downturn, it is great to see ships of such top quality delivered.”
Meanwhile, the second new built Suezmax, the Aegean Dream, has been submitted for certification.
